Jacaranda from Bilnrobin

They are of South American origin, (Bolivia or Argentina I think). Botanical name Jacaranda mimosifolia. It sheds its leaves in early Spring after which it produces trusses of hanging blue/mauve to lilac flowers. They are surface rooted; don't plant too close to a wall as it will cause it to crack, (as we found out in Perth where we had a beauty in our front garden). They can grow to 15 metre high with a similar spread. They can tolerate down to maybe -7ºc for brief spells but are better suited to climates that are not prone to frost.
